Find out if bankruptcy is right
The Law Office of Kerie P. Stone is a debt relief agency. We help people file for bankruptcy relief under the Bankruptcy Code.
Chapter 7 Bankruptcy is often called a "liquidation bankruptcy." Basically, you should think of a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy as a request to the court to discharge your debts. You will not have to pay your debts back. If you have overwhelming credit card debt, medical bills, loans or other debt, consider filing a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.
Chapter 13 Bankruptcy has many similarities to Chapter 7 but there are some key differences. In a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, you will be paying back some of your debts or possibly all of them. Ms. Stone will discuss both Chapters with you and will determine which Chapter you qualify for.
First, Ms. Stone will tell you ahead of time whether your specific debts are dischargeable and whether you can use Chapter 7 in your situation.
If we file a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy for you, Ms. Stone will do the following:
In most cases, you will only have to go to court one time. Your attorney will make sure that you are prepared.
Contrary to popular belief, it is usually not so difficult to obtain credit after a bankruptcy. Some credit card companies are very eager to offer cards to people who have just completed a bankruptcy because those are people who no longer have high debts. We have seen many clients who have been offered cards and loans after bankruptcy.
After you file for bankruptcy, your creditors must stop calling you and cannot harass you to pay them back.
You do not have to give up all of your
possessions. You can usually keep your pension, car, house, bank
accounts, furniture and clothing.
How much will it cost?
The Law Office of Kerie P. Stone has NO HIDDEN FEES. We do not charge extra for each creditor, as some other attorneys do. We do not advertise fees that are lower than our true fees. Of course, we do have to evaluate your case in order to determine how much of our time your case will require. At our first meeting, we will provide you with an estimate of our fee and we will explain the court filing fees.
