A disability attorney looks back on her week

My husband Scott keeps the office running just as much as I do. On Tuesday, I was getting ready to leave the house for a hearing. My client deserved to win.  This was an extremely well deserved case, but there were some technical issues that could have made it very difficult.  I freaked out for a minute because I couldn’t find my briefcase. I looked out the window and there was Scott carrying it to the car.  What a wonderful way to start the day.

My client’s file had 48 separate medical exhibits.  My client and I had worked together to make sure that we left no stone unturned.  It’s so important to work together.  I believe that cases are proven based on documentation before we even walk in the door.

I expected a long and drawn out hearing, with a battle over some of the technical issues.  The judge stated that I had covered those technical issues on paper and he agreed with my position, so we didn’t need to repeat those issues at the hearing.  He called a doctor to testify. The doctor testified that she looked at all of the documents we submitted and she quickly agreed with my assessment that my client is disabled.  The judge agreed with the doctor, and we won the case.

And it was a day that started with me realizing that my husband was carrying my briefcase to the car, even though I hadn’t even asked.

Have a great weekend and reach out if you need help with a disability case.
